Pet Hair and Paw Prints After a Wet Burnaby Walk

Supreme Shine Team · · 7 min read

Rear cloth seat and carpet of a crossover on a grey rainy October day in Burnaby, with dog hair caught in the fabric and muddy paw prints on the floor

Damp dogs after Burnaby rain leave embedded hair, muddy paw prints, and wet-dog odour in the cabin. What helps between walks, and what a mobile interior detail handles.

Late October in Burnaby, the walk ends in the car. The path is mud, the coat is damp, and the ride home puts that hair and that smell into the seat, the carpet, and the gap beside the cushion.

Here's what a wet dog leaves behind, what helps on an ordinary day, and when a mobile interior detail is the reset. Wet shoes are in our fall floor-mat note. This one is the dog.

Where a wet dog leaves the mess

A damp coat sheds where the dog sat, stood, and shook.

  • Cloth seats. Wet hair works into the weave as the dog shifts. The next dry day, it looks like part of the fabric.
  • Carpet under the paws. Mud prints the footwell and the cargo floor if the dog rides in the back. A damp print dries into the fibres.
  • The gap beside the cushion. Hair packs the seat rail, the buckle, and the crack you cannot see from the driver's seat.
  • The headliner. A shake in a closed cabin throws fine hair up, where a household vacuum barely reaches.

A dog in the hatch leaves hair and paw mud on that carpet.

Why damp hair sticks, and why the smell stays

Dry hair mostly sits on the surface. Wet hair grabs the fabric.

  • Water mats the coat against the seat. Hair that would brush off a dry cushion stays in the weave.
  • The smell is the damp. Moisture sits in the seat and the carpet, so the cabin still smells after the dog is out.
  • Mud is more than a print. Paw grit is pressed in on the drive. Vacuuming takes the loose layer and leaves the backing.
  • A spray does not finish the job. It covers one drive, it does not pull hair out, and some sprays mark leather.

A five-minute seat and carpet check

Do this in daylight, with the dog out of the car and one rear door open.

  1. Pinch the seat where the dog sits. Hair that lifts is on the surface. Hair that stays in the weave is embedded.
  2. Press the footwell carpet. A cool, dark print is a damp paw, not a dry scuff.
  3. Look along the seat rail. A grey line in the crack is hair a quick pass at home usually misses.
  4. Check the cargo floor if the dog rides in the hatch. Pale prints show up after they dry.
  5. Shut the doors and step back in. If the smell is still there, it is in the fabric.

What helps after an ordinary walk

  1. Towel the coat before the car, so less water mats the hair into the seat.
  2. Cover the seat for the ride, then take the towel inside. Left overnight, it is another damp layer.
  3. Wipe the paws. Mud on a rubber mat wipes off. Mud on carpet is pressed in on the way home.
  4. Vacuum once the cabin is dry. On a damp seat, the nozzle often smears hair deeper into the weave.
  5. Use a rubber brush or a lint roller for surface hair. It will not pull hair from the carpet backing.

These steps slow the buildup. They do not pull embedded hair out of the weave.

Carpet, cloth, leather, and the headliner

  • Carpet and cloth. Loose, dry hair comes up with a vacuum. Hair in the weave, and a dried paw print, needs more than that.
  • Leather. A wet coat can leave a darker patch and a stiff seam. Wipe. Do not scrub.
  • Headliner. Headliner Cleaning is a $50 add-on, GST extra. It is not part of the interior package.

What a mobile interior visit handles

We come to the car with water and power on board, at home, at work, or in a parkade that allows it. Pet hair removal in Burnaby is a mobile add-on. You do not drop the car off for it. Ceramic coating and paint correction stay a drop-off at 4399 Lougheed Hwy.

Interior detailing uses the inside packages on the mobile detailing page. The hair add-on is extra.

  • Interior Refresh (starting at $155, about an hour, GST extra) vacuums the mats, wipes the dash, console, doors, cup holders, and seats, and cleans interior glass.
  • Interior Deep Clean (starting at $260, about 2.5 hours, GST extra) adds steam, deeper seats and mats, and spot treatment of minor stains.
  • Light Pet Hair Removal is $50, GST extra, for hair still mostly on the surface.
  • Excessive Pet Hair Removal starts at $100, GST extra, when hair is embedded in the carpet or the seats.

Excessive Dirt / Heavy Soil starts at $50, GST extra, when paw mud is past a normal vacuum. Leather Cleaning & Conditioning is $50, GST extra. We do not publish an ozone or enzyme price. A maintenance plan interior visit includes an odour refresh. That is the odour work we list, the hair add-on is still extra, and plan rates are quoted. A wet dog put straight back on the seat brings the smell back.

Essential Detail starts at $210, about two hours, GST extra, and adds a hand wash in the same visit. The pet-hair add-on is still extra.

If heavy rain or extreme weather would affect the quality of an exterior wash, we'll contact you to reschedule. Light rain is usually fine for interior work. We need room beside the car and permission to be there. That is practical guidance, not legal advice. Tight stalls are covered on condo parkade detailing. A plan can be interior-only, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Pause or cancel anytime by call or text.

Quick answers

Is pet hair included in an interior detail?

No. Light pet hair is $50. Excessive pet hair, embedded in carpet or seats, starts at $100.

Will a home vacuum get it?

Loose, dry hair, yes. Wet hair in the weave, and a dried paw print, usually stay.

Can you clear the wet-dog smell?

We clean the hair and damp fabric holding it. There is no separate ozone or enzyme price. A maintenance interior visit includes an odour refresh. A wet dog back on the seat brings the smell back.

Can you do this in the rain or a parkade?

Light rain is usually fine. We move an exterior visit when heavy rain would spoil the wash. A stall needs permission and room beside the car.

Is this the wet-shoes guide?

That one is the front footwell. This one is the seat, the paw prints, and the hair in the rails.

How to book the hair reset

  1. Note whether the hair lifts off or stays in the weave, and whether mud is packed into the carpet.
  2. Choose Interior Refresh or Interior Deep Clean, then light or excessive pet hair. Add leather, headliner, or heavy soil if those fit.
  3. Book online, or compare add-ons on pet hair and odour and packages on mobile detailing.
  4. Tell us the neighbourhood, the vehicle, and whether it is at home, at work, or in a condo stall.

Get the embedded hair out this week

A towel at the door slows the next walk. It does not undo hair already in the weave. Match the visit to how the dog rides.
